Prairie Village Museum is seeking an executive director to oversee daily operations. We invite you to explore our website and reach out to us if you have any questions about our organization.​

Our mission: “To document, preserve, and interpret the history and ongoing story of Central North Dakota for the people of the region and for visitors from around the world, through educational and entertaining programming and through displays of artifacts and historic buildings at Prairie Village Museum.”

Exceptional candidates will have:

  • Museum or similar work experience

  • Ability to develop marketing materials, newsletters, social media content, and news releases

  • Experience with grant writing and grant management

  • Experience with nonprofit fundraising

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with PastPerfect museum software for collections and membership management

Job description

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral), and people skills

  • Experience as paid staff or volunteer with a nonprofit organization

  • Significant experience managing paid staff and/or volunteers

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive work climate

  • Experience planning, executing, and promoting successful public events

  • Ability to help create and manage an operating budget

  • Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel

 

Hours: May – October: average 40 hrs/week. Nov. – April: flexible schedule, average 4 hrs/week, may work remotely.

 

Compensation: Commensurate with work experience: $25-$35/hr. Training will be provided to build skills specific to museum management.
